Here’s what I’ve been up to lately:
Playing Soul Caliber
Regressing back to the late 1990′s (minus vegan straightedge camo pants), I cracked and bought a Dreamcast and the only game that matters – Soul Caliber.
The current consensus in the Quirk household is that Seigfried – despite being able to thoroughly kick ass all the time – is a douchebag with a big sword and is no fun to play anymore, while Lizardman is actually the man with his many smooth snakesque moves, but the best of them all is Cervantes.
And for the record, despite all of Marisa’s smack-talking on her skills, she was in for a brutal lesson in humility whilst she came into contact with my skills. Sadly, my ego couldn’t allow her more than a 10-to-1 win ratio, and thus, she has yet to come back to play again…
PS I had actually wanted to write up a ridiculous post with lots of screenshots and whatnot, but my usual method of collecting these photos with no effort (translation: google image search) hardly brings up any Dreamcast-related shots, only other, newer versus. Psssh. I guess the internet wasn’t so image savy in 1999.
PSS I remember many years ago paying $5 to play in a Soul Caliber tournament where I got eliminated in about 18 seconds. That was awesome.
Studying for my Insurance License
Those who know me, know I like money: talking about it, manipulating it, and most of all, saving it. So perhaps it’s only natural that when someone told me they could train me to sell insurance and I could make good money on the side, that I would cave in and for it. The only downside is I’m guessing I probably will have to re-think keeping my head shaved and this probably kills the fantasy of getting a wrist tattoo (no worries, 10 years running with thoughts of ink in my head and I never inked up anything on my flesh.)
So $245 later, I’m enrolled in an online class to get my insurance lesson.Currently I’ve gone through 20% of the class. Once I have my license, I will start training, and I will do this on the side to earn extra money while keeping my day job doing tech support for IT companies.
Now that I’ll be both an IT guy and an insurance salesman, I think I’m basically screwed at any hope of ever being hip.
Watching the hell out of THE OFFICE
In breaking my rule of only getting obsessed with shows starting with an “S” (Simpsons, Southpark, Sopranos, Sex and the City, Six Feet Under), I starting watching The Office in a major way. In maybe 2 months, I watched all the seasons available to watch online at Netflix and at NBC, which means I’ve watched everything.
I effin’ love this show!
And now that it’s done… in mourning, I’ve come to rewatching it a few times.
The thing is though, I don’t really know what’s going on with the show as far as the future of it. Are more episodes coming out? Will Jim and Pam getting married in a season finale? Will Sprinkles come back a la Pet Cemetary style and kill us all?

And could Jan even get any hotter in future episodes? Mmm.
