Dear Quirky
If I’m going to paint a room, should I remove all the furniture from the room first?

Dear Painting Newbie,
As you’ve surely realized by now after painting two rooms today, the answer is, for god’s sakes, YES, spend that extra 10 minutes getting all the furniture out BEFORE you start, it will make your life a hell of a lot of easier.
Another tip for the novice is to have more than 3-4 square feet of newspaper available to lay on the floor. You will find that this pathetic amount of newspaper won’t work well at all, and you’ll end up getting paint on the carpet.
Last but not least, in your haste to rush through all your home improvement and cleaning projects before selling a house to an unsuspecting buyer, whatever you do, do not flea bomb before painting. It makes for a really strange combination of chemicals in the air, combining paints and bug killer gunk all at once into some crazy, amorphous combination that could probably kill a large animal upon inhalation.
Once you have finished though, be sure to celebrate with a cool Miller Chill Chelada Style beer, complimented with a sarcastic blog post written in the 3rd person.
